.Surat Airport terminal building was newly built in the year 2009 in a Modular Structure concept, keeping in mind for future expansion/extensions. At that time, it was one of the latest & modern structure, with a full glass facade of the terminal Building.

The building consists of 6800-8731 sq mtrs area with ground plus one floor.


The ground floor consists of One Arrival/Departure gate for access to smaller aircraft, 6 Airline Check-In counters, 2 Security counters, Rest rooms, Security Hold Area, 2 Baggage Carousels, Departure Lounge cum Art Gallery, Arrival Lounge, VIP Lounge, Airline offices, Airport Managers Office and various outlets and Travel & Hotel Counters.


The Upper Level consists of a second waiting lounge and has 2 Arrival/Exit Gates connected with Aerobridges for direct access to aircraft of the size of A320.  It is accessible to & from the ground floor via escalator and elevator for the use of Departure & Arrival passengers. The rest of the upper deck is spread with few Corporate Offices and a Full Service Restaurant which is yet to be operational.

With the recent inaugural of the 2 aero-bridges on the upper deck this area has been opened for transit passengers, doubling the passenger handling capacity by 240 passengers per hour, however space constraints are already being felt with the addition of new flights, and some of the area already being cordoned off for International operations, which is to commence shortly. 


Other Passenger facilities provided for smooth transition at the airport are as under:

  • Baggage Trolleys: Available at Free of charge, at the Parking Zone, Terminal Entry gate & Baggage arrival area.
  • Wheel Chair: Available on request [Prior Booking, preferably with the Airlines is highly recommended.
    For assistance to Specially Able/Senior citizens/Children traveling alone/Medically Unfit, contact On Duty Airport Manager/In-charge, Airline Personnel
  • Medical Aid/First Aid Room: Limited Medical Assistance available at no cost.
    For any medical Emergency contact the On Duty Airport Manager/In-charge or Airline Personnel
  • Child Care Room: Available at ground level, on complimentary basis
  • Rest Rooms for Transit Passengers is available on ground level and the upper level of the New Terminal Building
  • Smoking Room: Now Available on the Upper level of the New Terminal Building
  • Lost & Found Baggage: Contact On Duty Airport Manager/In-charge or CISF Security Personnel for assistance
  • Telephone: Available at Airport Managers Desk
  • ATM Service: Available at the ground level.
  • Wi-Fi Hot-spot: Free of charge with limited usage
  • Business Center/Executive Lounge : Not Available
  • Airline Offices: Accessible from Outside Terminal Building

  • Drinking Water & Restroom Facility for visitors - NOT AVAILABLE
  • Parking Facility at the Terminal building

        Capacity: 150 Vehicles Approximately

       

The Parking Charges WEF: 1st April, 2025 are as under:

  • FREE Entry/Exit for Pick-Up within First 09.30 minutes only
  • Free Entry/Exit for Drop-Off within the first 04 minutes only
Anything above and beyond the FREE minutes will be charged as below.
Surat Airport Parking Fare

Parking Rates are pre-decided between the Contractor & AAI & are subject to change from time to time & a Fare Board with effect to that is displayed at the Parking Entry Booth.
       

CAUTION:

There has been incessant flow of complaints from the users of the parking facility of being wrongly/overcharged by rude and belligerent parking-contract staff. Despite Free-Minutes & fixed charges for usage beyond, the current Parking Contractor has been notoriously operating the New Prking Zone with all possible deriliction of the contractual rates and carries out malpractices in broad daylight and under the nose of the airport administration & AAI.
  • For any further information contact the Parking Contractor at the New Parking Zone.
  • Contact On-Duty Airport Manager/In-charge for Parking Related grievances.


Availability of transportation from the Airport:


General Taxi Service: Available via Private Taxi operators

Pre-Paid Taxi Service: Available (At Exhorbitant rates)

Car Rental Service: Available

BRTS: Bus Rapid Transit Services (Air Conditioned Coach Service) AVAILABLE [Started September, 2017]

City Bus Service: SITILINK Bus Services are available with limited frequency from & up to Main Entry Gate.

Inter State Bus Service: Connecting buses can be availed with SITILINK Bus Service at the Main Entry Gate.

Inter State Taxi/Car Service: Available on Request

Airport Shuttle Service: Not Available

Auto Rickshaw Stand: Not Availabl (3 Wheelers are Prohibited entry to the Airport)

Metro Rail System: NOT AVAILABLE

Surat City METRO Rail plans have been Approved and is expected to enter construction phase in 2017. Strangely AIRPORT is NOT on the METRO route map.



Travel Advisory Notes:

Security-check timinigs & Baggage Policy: 

Most Airports & Airlines follow the 2 hours drill for Domestic flyers. Approximately - 30 minutes for Boarding pass & Baggage Check-In, 45 minutes for security check & 45 minutes for Boarding & Gates close, prior to the flight departure time. While the Gate-Close timing is stringently followed by the Airlines with no exceptions made after the last call time-slot is missed out. Please note the 45 minutes time-slot is an average requirement for security-check and may vary in duration at different times & at different Airports.

For International flights the drill is extended up by 3 to 4 hours prior to flight departure time, keeping in mind the additional time required for the mandatory Customs & Immigration checks. 

Please refer to the specific requirements and announcements made by the Airport & Airlines, from time to time and flyers are advised to strictly adhere to them for their Check-In times & Baggage Policy. 


Conveyance:

Althought the transportation facilities are constantly improving at the Airport with the increase in flight frequency and a larger footfall of passengers: however there is a very price prohibitive and unreliable service available at the airport for transportation for immediate need on landing at the Airport and to an extent, the same applies for reaching to the Airport from distant locations.

In the given situation it is best advised that prior travel arrangements, with proper due diligence, is made with the service providers to avoid any surprises & inconvenience. 


BRTS/SITILINK Airport Bus Service is Available with limited frequency of the Flight Arrival Schedule. Passengers can avail the facility at the New Parking Zone, near the Flag-mast. The service operates to & from some prominent city locations. For other BRTS connectivity & to connect with various locations of the city, passengers can disembark at VR Mall ("Y"Junction) on Dumas Road.
